Some of us are lucky enough to have comedians as friends. They may not get on stage and do stand-up, but they’re always making everyone laugh. Some make people laugh by pulling harmless pranks, and others have perfect timing with comebacks.
Traditional Christmas gifts might be useful for the average jokester, but they’ll have a keen appreciation for gifts that help them make others laugh. If you know any guys who like to wear their sense of humor on their sleeve, these gifts will help them make everyone’s day:
1. A Christmas suit
If you know a guy who doesn’t have a Christmas suit, this should be the first gift you give them. If a jokester doesn’t have a Christmas suit, they probably don’t know they exist.
Imagine how much fun it would be for them to walk into an ugly sweater party wearing an ugly sweater patterned suit, or decorated head to toe in snowmen, Christmas trees, or candy canes.
If pants aren’t their style, there are Christmas suits that come with shorts. This opens the door for showing off grandma’s Christmas socks and a pair of elf slippers.
2. Ridiculous hats
Funny hats are so ridiculous, people can’t help but love them. Your comedian friend probably has a few hats that everyone’s used to by now. Get them something unique; something they’ve likely never paraded around in, like a moose hat that makes them look like they’ve been taxidermied.
If they’ve already got several animal hats, don’t worry. You can find a hat with just about any animal including dinosaurs, dolphins, cows, alligators, crabs, skunks, and squirrels. There has to be something they don’t already own.
3. Custom printed holiday cards
If you want to support your prankster friends in their efforts to spread laughter, get them a set of custom printed holiday cards. Think with their sense of humor. Would they be likely to mail out Christmas cards using another holiday’s mascot, like the Easter Bunny? Or would they get a kick out of mailing Christmas cards in another language like German or French, forcing the recipient to translate an intentionally ridiculous message?
Imagine getting a Christmas card from that person and it’s in French. After translating it, you discover the card reads, “Merry Christmas, grasshopper, don’t get your tinsel in a tangle.” Would you laugh? If so, that’s the custom design you should make.
4. Prank them with a gift they can use to prank others
In the movie Elf, Buddy the elf said, “the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” He was right, and one way to spread that singing cheer is by turning an innocent looking stuffed animal into a secret Christmas caroler.
First, find a stuffed bear you can easily cut open and sew back together. Find some greeting cards that play carols when you open them. Remove the recording devices, and place them into the bear in various places and sew the bear back up.
For the prank to have the full effect, give the bear to your comedian friend over dinner at a nice restaurant. They won’t suspect it’s anything but a regular stuffed bear. Convince them to keep the bear on the table because you think it’s “cute.” When the least expect it, squeeze an arm or a leg and wait for their reaction. If they’re a genuine prankster, they’ll love it.
Let some time pass and squeeze another area to play another Christmas carol. Keep surprising them with new carols with long intervals in between for the best effect. If they have kids, they can pass on the prank when they get home.
Support your favorite prankster this Christmas
The best gifts are those that support a person’s passions. Some men are passionate about woodworking, and others are passionate about making people laugh. Besides, Christmas is about spreading joy and cheer to others, so it’s pretty much a mandate to make other people laugh.
Be prepared to get pranked back
If you choose to prank your prankster friends, be prepared for them to get you back. If they do prank you back, it’s only because they care about you. Pranks are a form of hazing. Although some people take hazing too far, it’s only meant to mark someone as being accepted into the group. If you get pranked for Christmas, consider it a substitute thank-you card.
