Finding a new hair color can be a magical feeling. That perfect shade is like getting a new identity and makes you more confident and sexy. Unfortunately, sometimes the end results don’t turn out the way you expect it and you might end up with a brassy, choppy and unnatural hair.
Here are the 4 reasons why your new color didn’t turn out the way you expected and how to prevent that from happening again:
1. You only use one color
No one likes brassiness when it comes to hair coloring, but your dye’s undertones can actually give you a greenish end. The best way to prevent this is to use ashy-toned bases.
Use one color on the roots, process, and rinse it out—and then use a different semi-permanent color on the ends.
2. You don’t lighten enough beforehand
Pink and green hair can be super fun, but if you don’t have a really light base layer than color might end up looking muddy.
Lighten your strands as much as you can before coloring them to prevent your hair from looking muddy!
3. You leave it process too long
So you put on the dye and you’ve waited through the process at home only to see that the color turned out flat and dull. This is probably because you’ve kept the dye for too long.
To fix it, wash your hair a few times with a clarifying shampoo, to pull the color out a little bit.
4. The color you chose is too unnatural
That shade looked gorgeous on the box but somehow it doesn’t look that great on you. This is because the particular color you chose doesn’t go well with your complexion. If you want your hair color to look natural, choose 2-3 shades similar to your natural hair color.
