Whether you call them green shakes, weight loss shakes, breakfast smoothies – they’re just plain delicious. All you need is a blender! The best part? You can use frozen ingredients or fresh! Here are 7 healthy breakfast smoothies that will keep you full until lunch and help you lose weight.
1. Cucumber Glory
Cucumbers are an anti-inflammatory, high-in-fiber hydrating vegetable. Packed with vitamin K, B vitamins, copper, potassium and manganese, they’re full of nutrients that will help you jumpstart your day. Bananas make shakes oh-so-creamy. This drink does admittedly taste a bit earthy, so sweeten things up a bit (if you’d prefer) with Stevia.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 banana
- 1/2 cucumber
- 1/2 cup uncooked kale leaves
- 1/4 lemon juice
- 2-3 cups water
- Optional: 2 tbsp. hemp powder
2.Pineapple Avocado Smoothie
Do you crave sugar first thing in the morning? This creamy smoothie will give you all the natural sugar you need. Avocados are a hefty source of essential fatty acids, and fiber, which keep you full. Pineapple provides a double-whammy of nutrients, due to its anti-inflammatory properties and digestive enzymes.
Ingredients
- Handful of spinach
- 1/2 avocado, peeled
- 1/2 banana
- 1 inch ginger, peeled
- 1 drop liquid stevia
- 1 cup pineapple
- 1 1/2 cup water
3. Avocado Spinach Smoothie
Avocados are a powerful anti-inflammatory food, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, and prevent cardiovascular diseases. Spinach is equally as impressive, which is another food that’s loved by the culinary world.
Ingredients:
- 2-3 cups cashew milk (or water)
- 1 cup of spinach
- 1 avocado
- 1 tsp. Ceylon cinnamon
- 1 tsp. dark cocoa nibs
- 1/2 tsp. raw honey
- 1 tsp. raw cacao powder (I get mine from Kiva)
4.Berry Banana Breakfast Smoothie
Bananas have a lot of potassium, which is great for our bone health. Blueberries are one of the “superfoods”. It is simply a nutritional warehouse, producing sustained energy and increased health benefits. Sometimes, healthy weight loss shakes need a significant amount of protein to promote fat-burning. This is why certain protein powders are a tremendous investment for your health.
Ingredients:
- 1 banana
- ½ cup blueberries
- 1 cup cashew milk
- 1 scoop of protein powder (I like vanilla)
5. Raspberry Oatmeal
Oatmeal is widely-regarded as a staple in the health community. An addition of ginger, which has antioxidant properties as is helpful no matter how you look at it, as well as Greek yogurt makes this berry oatmeal as satisfying as ever.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup rolled oats (uncooked)
- 1 cup of mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or other)
- 1 cup of Greek yogurt
- Optional 1 small slice of ginger
6. Superfood Powerhouse
Spinach is high in vitamin A, folate, omega-3 fatty acids, calcium and more. Just as everyone knows that Kale is the leading powerhouse of health, with its rich content of vitamin A, vitamin B1 and B2 and B3. You can’t go wrong with adding these two “vegetable superheroes” together. For added sweetness, add a few dollops of Ceylon cinnamon or raw honey.
7.Coconut Mango Shake
You can’t go wrong with coconut and you can’t go wrong with mango. Adding these two together will give you a delicious, fruity shake. Chia seeds are an excellent addition to any shake just for the amount of nutrition alone.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp. chia seeds
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped mango
- 1/2 tsp. flaked coconut
