Without doubt, many things pressure women on every side –amidst family, career, choices, and other things from life’s everyday work. Hence, it is easy to lose focus on the things you have set for yourself to do and achieve. However, you have to stay strong for yourself and others who draw inspiration from you like Jeff Moore, founder of EverydayPower.com. Here are seven simple tips to help you stay focus.
- Set your goals and keep it before you always: Have definitive goals for yourself, short term or long term. Short term goals can be what you want to achieve for the day while your long term goal can be your career aim in the next two or three years. When you set these goals, keep them in places where you can see them and consciously work towards achieving them.
- Set priorities: There would always be piles of things to do. Amidst plenty of things, it is very easy for you to go for the least important ones because they are usually easier to do. You should be self-disciplined and set priorities for your goals and the order of importance which you want them treated.
- Ask for advice: No one knows it all. And really, making decisions can be very hard. I’ve been there before; sometimes you are stuck for several minutes, hours, or even days just to think something through. Instead of bothering your head so much, why not ask someone who has experience or specialty for advice?
- Keep track of your progress: Have a document or folder where you keep track of the things you have achieved. It could be as simple as marking out the goals you have achieved. This way, you know where you left off your plans and where to pick it up, the next time or day after.
- Delegate tasks: If you are in charge of a business or persons, you should build trust in your subordinates to help you handle important tasks. So, train them to handle some of your work as it pertains to their functions. Most importantly, you make them skilled and experienced in doing specific tasks. Delegating activities makes your work easier, faster, and gives you the opportunity to channel your energy into other productive things that you have set to achieve.
- Be accountable to someone: Get someone you trust, whom you can be accountable to. Accountability might be mutual. Knowing that you have to report your progress to someone is usually a drive towards actualizing your goals. You might have to keep personal stuff secret, though.
- Create time to relax: The saying, “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” will always be true. Don’t pressurize yourself with too many tasks. It wears you down, easily. Create time to relax, excess, clear out your head. You might go for a walk in the park or stay alone to clear your mind of the tasks to be done, for some fifteen minutes. Music or dance can help, too.
