And one of those ways is by eating certain foods – some of them “superfoods”. All of the foods that we have listed below have certain nutrients contained within that are going to increase your chances of conceiving. Keep reading to learn more about these foods and get cooking when you’re done!
-
Beans
Everyone knows beans to be one of the healthiest foods that you can add into your diet. But did you know that they give you a boost in the fertility department, as well? It’s actually been seen that those women who are eating an animal-based diet are much more likely to be infertile than those women without such a diet. In that same study, women who ate tons of plant protein (which is found in beans) were able to conceive much easier than the other women. So, get out to the grocery store and buy up all of the beans to start cooking with!

Ice Cream
This one is probably an item that you didn’t expect to find on this list. While ice cream isn’t necessarily a super food, it’s been shown two servings per day of whole milk products like ice cream help protect you against infertility. And in the same studies, it was shown that low fat milk and skim milk actually had the opposite effect on your fertility rates. Don’t go crazy with the ice cream, but adding some into your diet is good for your fertility and for your mental health!
-
Leafy Greens
This next item is probably one that you would rather not have to eat more of, but leafy greens are fantastic when it comes to helping out your fertility. Foods like spinach, arugula, and broccoli have a ton of B vitamins in them that have been shown to help improve fertility rates. Plus, when your husband or boyfriend starts eating leafier greens, he’s going to have healthier sperm. So, it’s time to eat more salads in your diet! If you still don’t have progress after trying out these foods, then maybe it’s time to think about an IVF treatment.
-
Pumpkin Seeds
Non-heme iron is a great nutrient that’s found in pumpkin seeds. Not only are pumpkin seeds delicious to snack on, but combined with this nutrient you are going to have a lot less trouble getting pregnant than if you didn’t take this type of iron. You can easily throw in a whole bunch of pumpkin seeds into the oven and have them as a snack throughout the day. Yum!
-
Whole Wheat Bread
Now, whole wheat bread doesn’t in and itself contain any nutrients that can improve fertility rates. However, it’s more of an indirect process. When you eat wheat bread, these complex carbs take longer to break down in your digestive system. This keeps your insulin and blood sugar levels stable. And it’s been shown that when your insulin levels are high, you’re going to have a harder time conceiving. That’s why, when you’re trying to get pregnant, always opt for darker versions of carb-intensive foods – wheat bread, brown rice, and whole wheat pasta.
-
Olive Oil
When you add olive oil into your diet, you’re going to be adding an increase in your insulin sensitivity and a huge decrease in inflammation throughout your body. This inflammation has been shown to have negative effects on your ability to get pregnant. And olive oil is pretty easy to add into your diet – if it’s not there already!
-
Wild Salmon
Wild salmon is one of those foods that everyone is talking about. Salmon comes with tons of omega-3 fatty acids that have been shown to increase the blood flow to your reproductive organs, increasing your chance of getting pregnant. You can go for salmon burgers or just eat it as part of your morning breakfast!
What you eat is one of the main factors that go into your fertility rates and chances of getting pregnant. Make sure you involve the above foods in your diet if you want to up those chances.
