This might sound a bit odd, but there are ways you can clean your hair without using any shampoo. We’re advising you to try a new, easy, toxic-free way to take care of your hair. We’re not telling you to give up on your shampoo, but why not try cleaning your hair the natural way?
1. Shampoo Is A Detergent
Yes, shampoo cleans your hair, but it also removes the healthy oils from your scalp. These oils are naturally produced by your body and they protect your hair and keep it strong and soft.
Shampoo appeared in the early 20th century and before that, people washed their hair with soap. The downside of using shampoo is that it made the scales on hair stand up, making the hair rougher and weaker.
2. Shampoo Contains Chemicals
Our skin is our biggest organ and it’s really porous. Substances can enter in our bloodstream through our skin and stay there for a long period of time. Many shampoos contain mineral oils, which are produced when gasoline is distilled from crude oil. This chemical gives your hair an artificial shine and it acts like a barrier on your scalp, preventing the release of healthy oil.
How to Clean Your Hair Without Using Shampoo?
1. Baking Soda
Baking soda can do wonders for your hair. It’s really gentle with your hair and it can clarify your hair from chemical buildup. Grab a squeeze bottle, pour in 1 tbsp. baking soda and ill up the rest of the bottle with water. Give it a good shake and it’s ready to be used. Soak your hair with water and then squeeze a little of the baking soda mixture. Concentrate more on your scalp. Gently massage the mixture in. After a couple of minutes, rinse your hair with water.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is an amazing replacement for conditioner. It will seal your cuticles, detangle your hair follicles and balance your hair’s pH balance. Grab an old conditioner bottle and fill it with water and apple cider vinegar. Use 1 tbsp. vinegar to 1 cup water. Put some of the mixture on your hair, let it stay for a couple of seconds and then rinse your hair.
