Horchata is The Most Delicious and Healthy Drink You Will Ever Try

Summer is here, and you definitely need a refreshing drink to beat the heat. So, why don’t you try the most delightful, sweet horchata.

This drink originates from Latin America and is usually made with ground almonds, sesame seeds, rice, tigernuts, or barley. The most common version is made from rice.

Unfortunately, almost all horchata recipes call for a lot of refined, white sugar. This one is made of 100% real food.

Healthy Horchata Recipe:

Ingredients:

(6 servings)

  • 1 cup uncooked white long-grain rice
  • 5 cups filtered water
  • 1/2 tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp. honey

Preparation:

Pour the rice and water into the bowl of a blender; blend until the rice just begins to break up, about 1 minute. Let rice and water stand at room temperature for a minimum of 3 hours. Strain the rice water into a pitcher and discard the rice. Add the milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and honey in the rice water and stir well. Chill and stir again. Serve it in a glass with ice.
