You probably remember the heartbreaking story about Mark and his dog called Walnut. Walnut’s health rapidly deteriorated in his old age and he has collapsed many times. Mark, his owner was devastated by his dog’s condition and he had to make the most difficult decision- to put down his best friend.
“He’s been with me through some very difficult times in my life and he’s just got me through them, both physically and mentally. We’ve shared a lot of dramas, a lot of fun and a lot of shenanigans and he’s exceptionally special. Eighteen years is a long time to build up a bond of friendship,” said Mark.
Before sending his best friend to dog heaven, Mark wanted to give his 18-year companion a magnificent send-off. He decided to invite people with their dogs to join him for Walnut’s last walk. The response was huge, hundreds of people and their dogs gathered to accompany Walnut on his last walk. The walk was really emotional and overwhelming but Mark was proud that he gave his dog a beautiful send-off.
