Who Knew Sports Can Be an Engagement Driver?

Working in an office can be tough. Having to go back to the same building, to sit at the same desk day in and day out. It can take its toll on any member of your workforce, from those that are just trying to make ends meet in their position, or those that have a passion and love for the job. The role of a manager, is not only to control the quality of work output. Many managers forget this, and are left, after a while, with a workforce with diminished spirits, and lacklustre performances.

Managers spend time, money and a whole lot of effort to invigorate their workforce so that they work up to a good standard and maintain their spirits so as to not dishearten them. But you don’t need to despair over the question of how to energise your workforce, the answer is so simple. Get your workforce out on the field, and get them to partake in sports! So many managers agonise over what to do, when all they really need to do is open up those office doors and give their workers a bit of a run around! They don’t need to have a whole load of merchandise from nflshop.com or anything, and I’m sure none of your workforce are superstar sportsmen playing for the Dallas Cowboys or the Denver Bronco’s, though they probably own a dallas cowboys hats and caps. But none of that matters, the only thing that is required from a manager’s point of view, is that the workforce get themselves moving and have a good time connecting with their colleagues and peers.

Playing sports is scientifically proven to help pump positive chemicals through your bloodstream. This means that by the time your team are working back into the office, they will not only stretch their legs a bit, but they will have a more positive outlook on everything. They will be given a chance to talk to colleagues they haven’t spoken to before and you will give them an opportunity to connect with others outside the sometimes dull atmosphere of the office. Easier social communication more often than not, equates to a better flow of communication in the workplace, your workers will learn how to approach each other in an active, positive manner.

The engagement in sports may well prove to create some healthy competition, workers will jovially compete with one another on the field, to see how many runs they can beat their friends by. And this competitiveness might spill over into the workplace, causing them to try and push one another to be a more successful member of the team, and a positive force in the workplace. The only downsides that could come from letting your workers engage in sports is a few achey muscles and bruised knees, this is a small price to pay for a more coherent workplace, active, outgoing workers and a few fresh legs! Buy a couple of pairs of shorts and white shirts hey, if you’re feeling outgoing, why not get some proper hats made at capslist.com a few bats, balls and mitts so your teams have stuff to play with! Baseball is recommended as it requires large teams and definitely promotes teamwork and competition! Tell them that they can leave their laptops and graphs alone for a few hours and get them out into the sunlight. They may be reluctant at first, but as soon as you get people moving (provided there’s not too much of a competitive aspect to it), they will definitely join in competing with friends and colleagues! Then all you need to do is sit back and watch them have a bit of fun! Oh, and make sure you get a whistle to signify when they should drop the bats and walk back to work, they may get a bit carried away with their games and forget that they have to get back to the office.

Activity promotes positive feelings, there’s no argument about it. A short run out on a nearby field will help your workforce energise, stretch their legs, meet new people and have a great time!
