Giving your family members and friends the gift of perfume is definitely an amazing gesture. You can give these beautiful scents away for Anniversary, Hanukkah, Christmas gifts for any other reason for that matter.
There’s only one major problem: perfume is really expensive. If there were an inexpensive way to give such a beautiful gift, you’d probably jump all over it, right?
Well, it is possible to use essential oils from this webpage to make your own DIY perfume. In fact, when all is said and done, the beautiful creations you make will be perfect for coworkers, family members, and friends. And you can bet your bottom dollar that they are going to love these amazing gifts because they smell wonderful and you took the time to create them, which certainly goes a long way.
Ingredients Used for DIY Essential Oil Based Perfumes
The ingredients needed include:
- 75 mL of vodka or even stronger alcohol
- 2 tablespoons of distilled water
- dark colored glass bottles
- a coffee filter
- jojoba oil
- sweet almond oil
- other essential oils that we’ll discuss in greater detail below
After you have all of your ingredients, you’ll want to mix them up with certain essential oils. As far as base oils are concerned, vanilla, cedarwood, cinnamon, fern, moss, patchouli, and sandalwood are good options, so add seven drops to the mixture. For middle oils, you’ll want to use eight drops of either clove, lemongrass, nutmeg, or geranium. Lastly, put seven or eight drops of a top oil like lavender, jasmine, lime, lemon, orchid, rose, or bergamot into the solution.
Now we’ll move on to the five preparation steps.
Step #1: Bottle Preparation
Take as many bottles as you need to create the amount of perfume you’d like to have and then sterilize the bottles. Boil them in hot water for five minutes to make sure they are sterilized, and then you can run them through one cycle of the dishwasher. Once completed, they are ready to be used.
Step #2: Pouring in the Base Oil
Take jojoba or sweet almond oil as your base and put it in a bottle. You’ll need 15 mL of your choice of base, so pour that amount into the bottle.
3. Adding Essential Oils to the Mix
Third, you want to put the essential oils in the mix but you need to do so in reverse order, meaning from base to middle to top oil. Put a few drops of each oil in at a time and smell it to determine the strength of the smell. Creating your perfume this way will help you choose whether you want a mild or strong smell.
4. Now Add the Alcohol
Finally, you’ll need to add 75 mL of alcohol to the concoction. After the alcohol is added, mix it with the oil and put it away into a cupboard for at least six weeks.
5. Adding the Final Touches
Now that you’ve determined your perfume is ready, it’s time to add the finishing touches. Give your perfume a name – call it something exotic or sexy. And if you plan on doing this again, you may want to write down the steps that you went through so they are easily repeatable the next time you plan to create your own DIY perfume with essential oils.
Now that you have some great perfumes on hand, you can figure out what to do with them. You can give them away as gifts or keep them to yourself. No matter what, you’ve developed a great skill that you can use over and over again so enjoy it my friend.
