It’s really hard to find fruits and veggies that are pesticides free. There are many organic stores that offer us a wide range of products that are pesticides free but the problem is that not everyone can afford them. Washing fruits and vegetables with water cleans only a small amount of the pesticides. Using dishwashing soap and a brush can clean your fruits and veggies better but they’ll lose their nutritional values.
A study has shown that there are methods that can help you remove 75% of the pesticides. It’s not possible to make your fruits and veggies 100% pesticides free because pesticides get deep inside the core.
We are giving you 2 recipes to make your own homemade, natural sprays that can help you get rid of pesticides:
Lemon Spray
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp. squeezed lemon juice
- 2 tbsp. sodium bicarbonate
- 1 cup water
Mix all ingredients until the sodium dissolves. Put the spray in a spray bottle. Spay the fruits and vegetables and leave them for 15 minutes. Wash them with water!
Vinegar Spray
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 2 tbsp. sodium bicarbonate
- A few drops grapefruit seed extract
Mix all ingredients. Put the mixture in a spray bottle. Spray fruits and vegetables and leave them for 15 minutes. Wash them with water!
Extra tip: Leave the sprayed apples to stay more than 15 minutes. Vinegar can neutralize most of the bacteria and pesticides that are present in fresh food.
