“Birdman” was the absolute winner of the night. “Birdman” won Best picture, Best original screenplay and Achievement in cinematography; and Alejandro González Iñárritu, the director of Birdman took home the Best Director award. Julianne Moore was the best actress for her role in “Still Alice” and Patricia Arquette was the best supporting actress in “Boyhood”.

Eddie Redmayne won best actor for playing Stephen Hawking in “The Theory of Everything” and J. Simmons took home the Oscar for best supporting actor for his role in “Whiplash”.

The award for best original song went to John Legend and Common for “Glory”, a song from the movie “Selma”.
“The Grand Budapest Hotel” won 4 awards, for Best Costume Designs, Best Makeup, Best Production Design and Original Score. The award for Best foreign-language film went to Paweł Pawlikowski for “Ida”.
