Looking for the next superfood to incorporate in your diet? Well, you’ll be surprised when you hear this one. Apparently, cockroach milk is the new superfood and it has pretty impressive health benefits.
Scientists explain that cockroach milk is 4 times more nutritious than cow’s milk and it can be helpful in feeding the planet’s growing population.
Not all cockroaches produce milk. The specific cockroach that produces this milk type of substance is the Pacific Beetle Cockroach or Diploptera punctate. The new superfood contains protein crystals and extremely nutritious substances, sugars, fats and amino acids. The scientist’s goal is to replicate the genes responsible for producing those crystals in order to make the milk in a lab.
The important thing is that cockroaches won’t be getting milked by tiny little machines. The cockroach milk will be produced in labs, without any cockroach near by.
Cockroach milk contains protein crystals and amino acids
Cockroach contains protein crystals which contain a considerable amount of energy, much higher than that found in dairy milk from cows. Not only is cockroach milk very high in protein, but it also contains all the essential amino acids, as well as fat and carbohydrates, that your body needs.
The only negative side of the cockroach milk is its high content of fat. Although fats are necessary in any diet, the cockroach milk is much more calorific than normal dairy milk. For those interested in weight loss, cockroach milk will likely not be the best choice as it has many calories.
