The new mindfulness app ConnecTeen Minds is soaring for teenagers everywhere. Sarah Halimi, a French Israeli student at Columbia Grammar Prep in New York, created ConnecTeen Minds to help manage the growing stress, anxiety, and depression so many teenagers seem to experience today. Her daily meditation series, interactive blog and dynamic events have attracted a lot of attention across the US and Europe.
To promote the health benefits of meditation Sarah emphasizes various studies and research reports on the subject and consults her science teachers in New York and Israel to get feedback. At schools she pressure the board to implement more mindfulness resources and better education programs on the subject. She is aware of the growing mental health challenges students face, at the same time she recognizes the way meditation has helped her face her own problems and now wants to share her practices with her peers.
ConnecTeen minds offers an introductory seven day meditation series for all beginners that involves breathing practices, mental imagery, awareness of body and mind, and body relaxation. The guided meditations are spoken by Sarah, a teenager that students can relate to. The app also includes a calendar of events currently starting in New York, London and Tel Aviv which promote students to come together, participate in group meditation while also sharing their stories, and learning from experts.
Finally, ConnecTeen minds presents daily tips and tricks for teenagers to cope with stress. In order to continue the progress of ConnecTeen Minds, Sarah spends her time working closely with teens to see what works best and what doesn’t. She hopes that more and more teenagers will lean towards meditation in times of struggles.
