Photos of Syrian children holding Pokemon pictures and asking people to save them have been taking over the Internet. The devastating photos of Syrian children looking disheartened into the camera, holding images of Pokemon characters that said “ I am here, come save me” were published on Facebook and took the Internet by storm.
One of the kids held a sign that said: : “I am in Kafr Nabl on the outskirts of Idlib, come and save me,” another: “I am in Kafr Zeta, save me.”
These heartbreaking photos were posted by the Revolutionary Forces of Syria Media Office (RFS) which is a media outlet that has been working hard to spread the messages of Syrians against the presidential regime.
A spokesman for the Revolutionary Forces said: “With the media spread wide for Pokemon game we decided to publish these images to highlight the suffering of the Syrian people from the bombing of the forces of order and Air-Assad to the Syrian people and besiege them. We want to raise awareness and draw attention to the plight of Syrian children in besieged areas and the suffering of Syrian people who are attacked and killed by the Assad regime and its allies.”
The photos have reached thousands of people on Facebook and they have also been shared on Twitter where one person described the photos: “the Pokemon game you have not seen before”.
The devastating photos were published after 50 people were killed in northern Syria by air strikes. Most of the people were women and children.
The spokesman for RFS also said: “Syrian children are victims of the war and the brutal and indiscriminate attacks that are carried out on a daily basis by regime and Russian jets. The Syrian children are paying the price for the international inaction to stop the Assad killing machine.”
UNICEF said that there are around 35.000 kids trapped somewhere in and around Manbij, Syria.
