Here are some mistakes people often make that may have serious consequences on the health.
You Are Taking The Medicines The Wrong Way
Taking your prescribed medicines the right way and on certain time is not easy at all. Some medications must be taken on an empty stomach, others after you have a meal while some you shouldn’t take with juice. People often make mistakes while taking their medication and that can cause serious damage.
In a 2009 report, published by the National Institute of Health, it is said that half of the prescribed medications are taken and used the wrong way.
You Don`t Close Your Eyes When Putting Eye Drops
The biggest mistake people do when they put eye drops is that they don’t close their eyes.
“Pressing your finger against the inner eye canal for 2 minutes is ideal. After you put your eye drops, the tear duct close and that stops the liquid from going into your throat. If you can feel the drops it means that they reached your throat and that you’ve lost more than a half of your dose,” explains Francesca Cordeiro, ophthalmologist.
You Take The Pills Along With Food
Most people take this pill when suffering from a headache or when they feel chest pain. Most people take the pill with food to prevent stomach damage.
This is a mistake, according to Dr. Ingvar Biarnason, because the pill will take 45 minutes to act.
“If you take headache pill, you want the pain to disappear as fast as possible. If you take the pill on an empty stomach, you’ll feel the headache going away in just 15 minutes,” says Dr. Ingvar.
After You Put Drops in Your Nose, You Sniff It
When people put drops in their noses, they unconsciously sniff it.
“This was the drops get to the back side of your throat and you’re practically eating them. This is one of the reasons why your drops aren’t working,” explains Sophie Faruk, an allergy consultant.
She also says that you need to breath properly when you put your drop. Another mistake that people do is closing one nasal when using nasal drops.
