Yes, you’ve read it well! This recipe includes only two ingredients and because of that it’s really easy to make (obviously) and it won’t occupy your free time. In fact, what better to occupy your time with except a good healthy food which is very easy to make and it tastes great? You can’t be too busy for this.
First of all let’s introduce you to turmeric. Turmeric has a lot of health benefits, and if you are a healthy food junkie, you’ve already know this. For those who hear about the health benefits for the first time, turmeric is one of the most effective supplement in the world, and hands down most used. The spice contains curcuma which gives the golden-yellow color and it’s known for its anti-inflammatory advantages. It’s also needed to be included in the diet of the people who suffer from arthritis and arthritic pain.
In a 2009 study published in Alternative Medicine Review, the researchers have observed the anti-inflammatory advantages of the curcuma, stating:
“Based on early cell culture and animal research, clinical trials indicate curcuma may have potential as a therapeutic agent in diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, arthritis, and chronic anterior uveitis, as well as certain types of cancer.”
Now the second ingredient, raw manuka honey. In a 2016 study published in Frontiers of Microbiology, the authors stated this:
“Medicinal honey research is undergoing a substantial renaissance,” stating that therapeutic manuka honey is “no longer so alternative.”
Another study made in 2011 n the Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine observed and studied the antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that the raw manuka honey gives, and it’s preventative and healing properties. The researchers were amazed of the benefits of the honey in comparison to other types of honey, stating this:
“[Manuka honey] displays significant antibacterial effects even when the [enzymatic] hydrogen peroxide activity is blocked. Its mechanism may be related to the low pH level of honey and its high sugar content (high osmolarity) that is enough to hinder the growth of microbes.”
Some other benefits that raw manuka honey gives are these:
- Preventing and treating cancer
- Reducing high cholesterol
- Reducing systemic inflammation
- Treating diabetes
- Treating eye, ear, and sinus infections
- Treating gastrointestinal problems
