The problem has been that the levels of this hormone are never constant and hence not very reliable to gauge for the signs of menopause.

For the most part, these tests cannot be relied upon for accuracy given that the levels of the follicle stimulating hormone are always going up and down. It is thus difficult to gauge whether the presence or absence of the hormone will be constant.
Hormone Tests for Menopause
The hormone test kit for menopause works by gauging the prince or absence of the follicle stimulating a hormone in the body. The test can be done either in the urine or the blood of the individual. If one is in the menopause stage, they will have levels of this hormone between 25.8 to 134.8 mIU/ml or higher.
What Does a Hormone Test Tell You?
The hormone test for menopause will tell you if you have entered the menopause stage or not yet. If one is still menstruating and has thus not reached the menopause stage, their readings would be between 4.7 to 21.5 mIU/ml. Any readings higher than that are a confirmation that the individual is in the menopause stage.
Hormone Test for Weight Loss
If one is having problems with their weight and they have tried several methods and are still not successfully losing weight, they can go for a hormone test. The test will look for the levels of the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) which is it is too low it will make it hard to lose weight reasonably.

If one has confirmed or is on suspicion of having irregular periods, they can run blood tests to determine the level of hormones in their blood and how these hormones work. Besides the hormones, the other aspect to look for is the function of the thyroid gland since hormonal imbalance and hypothyroidism are the main culprits for irregular periods.

Perimenopause is the stage before one reaches menopause. It is not the full menopause but is tested by gauging the level of the follicle stimulating hormone and the estrogen hormones in the body. FSH increases as estrogen goes down in the perimenopause phase of an individual.
