A few natural remedies to treat toenail fungus are given below:
Apple Cider Vinegar
This has been found to treat various conditions and one of them is toenail fungus. Add apple cider vinegar and Epsom salt to hot water and let it cool to manageable temperature and then soak your feet in the mixture for at least half an hour, two to three times a day for a few weeks. The mixture will combat and kill the fungus and you will have clean toenails. You can even consume apple cider vinegar mixed with water for a few weeks. This will also help in getting rid of toenail fungus. If you feel the need you can add honey too.
Tea Tree Oil
This oil is an antiseptic and it also kills fungi. You should apply the oil on the nails that are infected regularly. Over time a fresh and healthy nail will grow. It is ideal to continue applying the oil for a month more so that the infection does not recur.
Orange Oil
This oil is considered as a very good anti-fungal treatment. The toenails should be cleaned and then the oil should be applied on a daily basis. Over time the oil will kill the fungus and the nails will become good. However, care should be taken as many people are allergic to orange oil. If you experience redness or irritation then stop using the oil or you can use the oil mixed with castor oil or olive oil.
Baking Soda
Yes this kitchen agent is very good in combating toenail fungus. You need to apply a paste of baking soda mixed with water or olive oil and over time the toenail will be healed completely.
Borax Powder
This is another fungicide and is useful in fighting toenail fungus. This can be used separately or it can be combined with baking soda and applied. It is effective both ways.
Coconut Oil
Many people swear by the uses of coconut oil. This oil is very effective for all skin ailments. Similarly when applied on toenails for a few weeks, the toe starts getting better as the fungus dissipates. However, care should be taken to ensure that you do not apply the coconut oil if you are allergic to it.
