Meet Hamdü Sena Bilgin, а 11-year-old shepherd and her best friend, Tomi, the dog. They’ve become true heroes after rescuing a mother goat and her newborn baby.
Sena lives in a small village outside the city of Rize, in Turkey. Her family runs a small farm where they raise goats for their milk. Her dog is always by her side, always protecting and guiding the goats even during the cold winter days.
One day when she was herding the goats far away from home, one of the animals went into labor. The girl was afraid that the mother goat and her new baby would be too weak to make it back on their own, so she did something incredible. First, she led the herd back to the farm, then went back to take the mama and the newborn baby. Sena took the mother goat on her back, and put the baby in Tomi’s backpack. They safely returned them home. The pictures were taken by her older brother, who is 15-year-old.
“The snow was so thick, I was exhausted,” said Hamdü. “But it was worth it.” She also commented that Tomi is a very good and smart dog.
Her story went viral fast. This little girl showed the world what it means to love animals.
