2016 is a year of incredible make up releases and whirlwind romances with brand new beauty products. However, there’s almost always a particular listing of favourite things that have stood the test of time and made into the everyday makeup bag. This post is focused on my creme-de-la-creme beauty picks of 2016 and I hope you find it inspiring!
Finest Mascara
Definitely Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara byTarte. I’ve always heard excellent things about the brand’s mascaras, but you can not judge a product until you try it yourself, right? My lashes are very tough and unruly, but this mascara manages to make them appear voluminous, lifted and (my favourite part) wispy. Highly recommend it!
Greatest Undereye Corrector
I’ve tried a lot of amazing correctors (including Becca and Urban Decay), but Colored Clay CC Undereye Corrector by Tarte is my number one pick for dark circles. It really is the top nourishing and gives great coverage (bye Panda circles!) and feels hydrating all day long. If you have dry or sensitive undereye area particularly, this item will soon be your first go-to.
Finest “Highlighting” Pen
Hands down, Touche Eclat by YSL is my top pick. Yes, it’s pricey and you don’t get that much for the cost. However, the formula is gentle and flattering, giving your eyes and instant “wide awake” look. Trust me, this really is the one to try!
Finest Concealer
2016 was also a year of concealers. There were so many being released that it was incredibly challenging for me to choose only one (that’s why I sneakily chose two)! My favourite undereye concealer (in case I don’t use Touche Eclat) is Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer by Becca. But when disaster strikes and nothing can cover that horrid pimple, Kat Von D’s Lock It Concealing Creme was my partner in crime.
Best Powder
Now this was an easy choice for me – Becca’s Multi-Tasking Perfecting Powder is incredible! It comes in a number of flattering shades, might be applied in a slew of ways and when you have dry skin specifically, you will definitely benefit from it!
Greatest Bronzer
I wasn’t too into bronzer this year – I’ve been trying to accept my naturally fair skin . Yet, there is one bronzer, which I believe every beauty enthusiast should own – Ambient Lighting Bronzer by Hourglass. This stuff is so good that I would bet it is something that JLo would wear. It gives you la luminous finish with the most flattering/natural-looking bronzed glow. It doesn’t look fake or orange. If you haven’t tried Ambient Lighting Bronzer by Hourglass then you have been seriously missing out. Try it now and thank me later!
Best Blush
Now this one is a tie between Becca’s Luminous Blush and Marc Jacob’s Air Blush. They both have distinct formulas and finishes, but both are equally amazing. I have been wearing Air Blush every day for the past month and can’t get over how it seems to compliment every single kind of make up “look”. I also can’t get enough of Becca’s Luminous Blush’s glow – so I had to choose both of these as 2016 favourites.
Finest Brow Products
This one was an easy choice for me – The Brow Gal by Tonya Crooks. I fell in love with these products and the brand right away. The Skinny Eyebrow Pencil and Convertible Brow Powder/Pomade Duo are the best brow products I have tried to date, and I don’t see myself putting them down anytime soon. On the other hand, if you want flawless brows 24/7 then HDi 3D Embroidery Brows (also known as Microblading) is an excellent option. FoxyFace, for example, is amazing at what they do and I can’t wait to go and treat myself to a pair of perfect eyebrows!
Finest Eyeshadows
This one might be a bit controversial, only because my favourite eyeshadow palette in 2016 is basically just a “glitter” palette. I did also fall in love with Make Up Geek matte eyeshadows this season as well, but my hoarder heart chose Urban Decay’s Moondust palette (and every one of their single eyeshado in the field. Their formula is never sloppy, stays on all day long, does not have fall off onto your face , and there are a ton of gorgeous colours to choose from! If you are a sparkle lover like me then you have to add these shadows to your collection!
Finest Lipstick
Although I did buy way too many MAC lipsticks this year (they are my all-time favs), I can’t rave enough about Bite’s Amuse Bouche collection. The lipsticks in this collection are all-natural and pretty much edible. They’re insanely pigmented, feel incredible on the lips and are ridiculously long-lasting. I’m blown away! My favourite colours are: Meringue,Thistle and Sugarcane. I will be getting excited about purchasing more shades next time I’m in the States, but overall – this formula is phenomenal.
