In 2012, when David Hibbitt was 32, he was diagnosed with cancer. He didn’t want to go through chemotherapy and his doctors told him that he only has 18 months to live.
“I felt like the chemo was killing me and I had nothing to lose. I could not really accept I was going to die,” said David.
One of his friends told him about cannabis oil and how good it was at helping people treat their cancer. When David heard about this oil, he was dismissive at first simply because he was never into drugs.
In 2013 David agreed to undergo chemotherapy, radiotherapy and even a surgery to remove his large intestine. Unfortunately, nothing stopped the cancer from spreading. As time went by, David was ready to try anything so he thought of cannabis oil.
He started using cannabis oil and 18 months later, doctors declared him free of cancer.
Cancer Research UK says it is unaware of people using cannabis oil to treat themselves and that there is “no good evidence” to support it as a safe and effective treatment for cancer. But maybe someday the world will come around and give cannabis oil the chance it so clearly deserves.
