We often buy and consume foods that are labeled “healthy” but are those foods really that healthy? Are they really good for our organism?
The reality is that we sometimes end up consuming “healthy” foods that are far worse than others.
Here are the “healthy” food rules you need to stop following:
1. Apple juice is healthier than Coca Cola
Although most consider apple juice to be a healthier alternative, truth is it contains a lot of sugar and calories.
2. Fresh vegetables are better than boiled
This is not always true. Sometimes boiled vegetables can contain more antioxidants than fresh veggies.
3. Honey is believed to be healthier than sugar
If you count calories, honey contains a lot more calories than sugar, so it won’t help you lose weight. On the other hand, honey is great for consuming since it contains a lot of vitamins and minerals.
4. Dried fruits are a great snack
Unfortunately, dried fruits have a lot less vitamins than fresh fruits and that doesn’t make it a good snack.
5. Popcorn isn’t healthy
Popcorn contains a lot of antioxidants, which makes it the perfect healthy snack. One cup of popcorn contains more antioxidants than one apple.
6. Cheese is your number one enemy
A lot of diets don’t contain cheese since everyone believes that cheese will only make you fat. Eat cheese in moderation since it contains lots of calcium. Cheese has more calcium than other dairy products and also contains linoleic acid that helps the body to burn fat.
7. Alcohol is bad
Alcohol can sometimes be really good for your body. Wine, for example contains a lot of antioxidants. The key is to stick to one glass per day.
8. Low fat foods are healthier
Consuming foods that are labeled “low-fat” doesn’t mean that you’re eating healthier. Low fat means less vitamins and less health benefits.
