If you have a wound that needs to be treated, keep on reading to find out how you can treat it using honey bandage.
The most important thing to remember is to choose the right honey. We strongly advise you to use Manuka since it’s more effective than any other types. Always buy locally-produced honey since it’s the most effective in killing bacteria.
Follow these steps to find out how to apply honey to a wound:
- Clean the wound
Clean your wound thoroughly using soap and warm water. This way you’ll clear bacteria and minimize the risk of getting any infection. Rinse until there’s no soap residue or dirt. Use a clean towel to dry your wound thoroughly.
- Apply honey bandage
Once your wound is clean and dry, apply a bandage of honey. Spread a layer of honey on a bandage and place it directly on your wound. Make sure the bandage covers the wound and the areas around, to prevent further infections. Seal the honey bandage with surgical tape.
- Pour the honey directly on your wound
This is another way you can treat a wound. Use a cotton swab or just a clean finger to apply honey directly to the wound. Spread the honey all over the affected area to kill all bacteria. Cover with a clean bandage.
- Repeat the process
Reapply honey on your wound every 12-48 hours, depending on the wound. Clean and apply honey on your wound until it starts healing. If the wound isn’t healing or you notice redness, tenderness or pus, go to your doctor to make sure it’s not infected.
