Is Honey as Healthy as We Think!?

Although many people believe that honey is a much healthier choice than white sugar, some new researches show that honey might not be as healthy as we all thought.

A team of nutritionists claim that honey has the same effect on your body as white sugar because honey contains a lot of corn syrup, which is a cheap sweetener.

One of the nutritionists, Susan Raatz says their primary plan was to show the differences between honey and white sugar, but by the end they realize that the both products are very much alike.

During the research, the team of nutritionists tested the effects of honey, white sugar and corn syrup on 55 volunteers. The volunteers were asked to eat 50gr. a day from one sweetener only.

The end results show that all three sweeteners have the same effect. Each of the volunteers has increased level of Triglyceride and lipids that can increase the risk of getting heart diseases.

Nutritionist Sarah Staner warns that honey shouldn’t be considered for a healthier choice. She also explains that honey contains a lot of calories.

“One tablespoon of honey contains 23 calories and 6 gr. of sugar, while sugar contains 16 calories and 4 gr. sugar. A little honey won’t do you any harm, but remember that it still contains sugars and calories,” explains Staner.
