Many people turn to alternative treatments and methods for curing cancer. Many miraculous alternative cancer treatments appeared and one of them is the treatment that involves vitamin B17, also called amygdalin. This vitamin was firstly discovered in almonds and later in apricot seeds.
Vitamin B17 consists of one benzaldehyde molecule, one HCN- hydrogen cyanide molecule and 2 glucose molecules. Benzaldehyde and cyanide are toxic elements but people who support this treatment claim that those toxic elements attack only the cancer cells and not the healthy ones. Unfortunately, scientists warn that cyanide can kill the cancer patient before the disease does that.
“Consuming cyanide from apricot seeds can have serious effects on one’s body, such as losing the sense of touch, numbness in the fingers and death, if the toxin gets accumulated in the body,” explain the British Food and Drug Administration.
Most websites that sell apricot seeds suggest consuming 10-12 seeds a day to prevent tumor spreading. That dose is half of the dose proven to be lethal. In patients that underwent chemo, that dose can be fatal.
