Irina and Nika were enjoying their day, walking down the street in Rustavi, Georgia when they saw a small ball of fur on the sidewalk. It was a tiny, helpless dog who was not more than 1 month old. The poor little thing was laying, without moving a muscle. The girls even thought that the puppy is dead. Both girls were volunteers in a local animal shelter so they knew what to do. They touch the dog to see if she’s alive and luckily, she took a breath.
“It was shocking because she was so feeble and doomed to death. She was hungry, thirsty and had a lot of worms … and she was very docile,” explains Irina.
The puppy was too young to be alone. The girls picked it up and decided to take her for a check up. They learned that the puppy was an orphan and that his mother got hit by car and died.
The girls started treating the puppy for malnutrition, parasites and gave him some food. The girls named her E.T because the puppy was so skinny, she looked like an alien rather than a dog.
Days went by and E.T got better and better. She’s now living a very different life.
“She lives with one of the members of our organization. She likes playing, walking and eating. It’s funny, but she loves to eat cucumber and pumpkin. She’s a very happy puppy. The most uplifting and emotional thing about this rescue was her transformation from faint and poor puppy to a happy dog,” says Irina.
