American journalist Kristie Dash decided to test the Paleo diet and see if it’s really that successful. One of the reasons why she decided to try this diet is because she has constantly been feeling tired, swollen, feeling gross with a lack of energy.
“Health and fitness experts might simply say, “Work out!” But despite the amazing health and energy benefits a quick cardio session provides, I’d rather change my eating habits than go to the gym. (Sorry, not sorry.) So what if I tried eating “clean” and cutting out all the crap? I love food, which, unfortunately in this case, means that I love all food, but in the name of journalism and paying homage to what our cavemen and cavewomen ancestors ate, I went paleo,“ she said.
Kristie started the diet and decided to follow it for 2 months. Paleo diet is all about eating unprocessed, natural foods, as did humans who lived in the Paleolithic. This doesn’t mean that you’re supposed to eat raw meat and roots. It means that you should avoid grains, sugar, dairy and any type of processed food. Nutritionists believe that the Paleo diet can help people reduce their blood pressure and fat.
Kristie avoided eating dairy products, processed foods and grains and added fresh fruits, veggies, sea food and fish, low-fat meat and nuts in her everyday menu.
This diet is really challenging, especially for people who are addicted to fast food, but Kristie was decisive and wanted to finish her experiment.
Her meals consisted of fruits and eggs for breakfast, kale and other veggies for lunch and baked fish or chicken for dinner. Kristie admits that quitting sweets was the most difficult part but a few days into the diet, her sweet cravings disappeared.
Kristie refuses to call this a diet, she calls it a lifestyle change.
She felt the changes in her body that pushed her to finish her 2-month mark. She wasn’t swollen or tired anymore. Her skin became glowy and healthier. She felt a lot better and she had a lot of energy.
“Coworkers and friends commented on my overall appearance, and I truly don’t think it was just about the surprising yet satisfying ten-pound weight loss. From my experience with Paleo, in comparison with every other diet I’ve tried—there have been many—I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to be healthier, not just for the purpose of weight loss,“ said Kristie.
