In a ravine in South Caroline, a tiny Shih Tzu was found protecting a kitten. The man who spotted them immediately called the Animal Control to come and help out. The dog stayed with the kitten, nursing her, and barked until help arrived.
Officer Michelle Smith found the helpless animals and brought them to the vet. After the check up, she made the conclusion that the dog must have been caring for the kitten the entire time they were in the ravine.
Smith thinks that the dog was out exploring when she ran into the kitten, who wouldn’t survive out there all alone.
The dog and the kitten were brought at the local shelter. The surrogate dog was actually lactating, a result of a false pregnancy. Her milk helped the kitten to stay alive.
Luckily, the pair has found a loving home together. Now they’re grown up, but still the cutest duo ever.
