These puppies might look extra cute and cuddly, but they’re on a serious mission. These little puppies will grow and become fire dogs, military dogs, police dogs, hearing and guide dogs. Most of the puppies going through the training are Golden Shepherds or Retrievers, since they’re easy to train and super smart.
Service dogs have noses that are 50 times more sensitive that human nose which is really helpful in fire departments and police. Police dogs can detect explosives, sniff out drugs and find missing objects and people. Fire dogs can point to the cause of fire and detect ignitable substances.
The vest they’re wearing is not just another cute outfit. That vest is their uniform, a sign that the dog is on the job.
