Smokey is a 5-year old dog who has been surrendered at the animal shelter in Ohio on Valentine’s Day. He was depressed for the last couple of weeks, and all he got to feel safe for a bit was his favorite toy.
The previous owners abandoned Smokey because they lost their home. They left him in the shelter along with his best friend, the stuffed gray elephant. The shelter staff wrote on his kennel a sign that Smokey and his elephant must go home together.
Now the sad shelter dog can’t stop smiling after he learned that he and his buddy are finally leaving the shelter.
