When we get lost in life, and focus on the ebb and flow of our days, we tend to not take the time for ourselves for our own mental well-being. Sometimes we just get so preoccupied and busy that we allow our creative and imaginative selves fall by the wayside. There are ways, however, to rediscover your creativity and imagination in order to feel whole once again.
Daydreaming (Try It!)
We daydream all the time, even when we don’t realize it. So, why not take notice and spend that time daydreaming about something that can be of benefit? If you take a few minutes of each day to imagine yourself doing things you wouldn’t normally do, such as what it would be like to live in a castle, how it would feel to fly in a hot air balloon, or scuba diving in the depths of the Caribbean.
Daydreaming is a blessing to our mind, and feeds it with much needed time for imagination. It’s also called visualization, which is an important part of self improvement.
Become a Hobbyist
Perhaps you wish, even if you have a busy schedule, to do something you have always wanted to do. In order to unlock your creative talent, you may want to consider painting, pottery, making stained glass items, or even learning how to do web design or something else technical, yet creative. You can check around your area where you live and see if there are any open studios or anyone who can teach you what you would like to learn. Your local library may also offer free lessons on a variety of creative outlets.
Keep a Journal
Journaling is an ideal to keep your creative and imaginative mind flowing. Writing in the morning is a great way to give you inspiration for the day ahead. Even if you are not a “good” writer, that’s okay! This is not about talent; the sole purpose for this mental activity is to awaking your consciousness and write about any thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals, or anything that comes to you mind. It is also a productive way to become more centered with your innermost self, and can keep you more focused throughout the day.
Book of Goals
Keeping a special notebook, either in your handbag or next to your bed, can be of great benefit. Any time you think of something you would like to do short term or long term, this is the perfect place to write them down. You can also write ideas and strategies to get you to where you want to be. You can write inspirational quotations, to-do lists, a statement of where you want to be in one month or even a year. You can imagine it all with a book of goals, and make your dreams a reality.
Enhance your Environment
A lovely home surrounding you with things that keep your creative and imaginative juices flowing, can give you a sense of calmness, create happiness, and inspire you from within. If you enjoy music, you can have it as your go-to background noise. If you love art or inspirational décor, you can enjoy being in your favorite room surrounded by unique items. Think about what makes you feel good inside, and add that into your living space. You may be surprised at how much these items can keep you moving forward in your creative and imaginative thinking as well as reducing stress.
When your mind is more imaginative and creative, it gives you the benefits of being a part of this great big world with peace within yourself; it gives you a sense of unabashed freedom, an ability to take more risks to better yourself, and it keeps you from being self-conscious about who you are. Becoming more creative and imaginative helps you become more relaxed when thinking about your future, new ideas, and the resources to get you where you want to be. Using your newfound creativity and imagination will naturally make you more open-minded, allowing you to think outside the box in all situations. What a wonderful and satisfying way to live your life!
