Preservatives and fragrances are the 2 ingredients in cosmetics that cause allergic reactions. Other products that cause allergy are: hair dyes, body cleansers, mascara, shampoos, moisturizers, eye shadows, nail polishes and lipsticks.

How to avoid makeup allergies:

1. Don’t use makeup

Stop wearing makeup and show the world that you still look gorgeous even when you’re makeup free.

2. Do a patch test

Before you buy or try a new product, do a patch test. Put a small amount of the product under your ear and wait for 48 hours to see if there’s any reaction. If you start itching and swelling that means that product won’t work for you.

3. Apply perfume on your clothes, not directly on your body

Certain ingredients in perfumes can cause allergic reactions. Start applying your favorite perfume on your clothes and not directly on your skin to reduce the risk of getting any reaction.

4. Don’t be misled

There’s no guarantee that the product is safe even though it says organic or dermatologically tested on the label.

5. Always keep your tools clean

Don’t forget to clean your brushes and tools! Swipe your tools with alcohol regularly and thoroughly clean your brushes once a week to avoid any allergies.

6. Avoid using eye makeup

If you want to avoid getting an eye makeup allergy, simply stop wearing eye makeup. Avoid using eye makeup, especially if you wear contacts!
