This warm and unique friendship story comes from Ireland. It might sound like a movie script but this story is totally true. Ben is a Labrador that goes to the shore every day and waits for his friend to come and play. The extraordinary thing about this friendship is that Ben’s best friend is actually a dolphin.
Ben can’t wait for his owner to take him out for a walk on the shore and as they get closer to the meeting place, Ben gets more and more excited. When they arrive at the shore, Ben lays down and waits for his friend… He waits and doesn’t give up. When the dolphin arrives, Ben rushes to the water and swims next to her. They sometimes even spend 3 hours swimming. When Ben gets tired, he sits on the shore to rest and the dolphin waits for him to return and continue their adventure.
Seeing these two friends together is a truly joyful sight! Locals at first thought that the dolphin is male so they named it Duggie. They later learned that the dolphin is female but they didn’t change her name.
“We sometimes think that she’ll leave Ben but it seems that she really loves him. She always appears when Ben is on the shore. We got used to seeing them swimming together but each time we see them, we’re amazed by their love,” says one of the locals.
