Who doesn’t love watermelon on a warm, summer day? We’re obsessed with this refreshing and delicious fruit. However, picking the right, juicy, ripe and delicious watermelon can be quite tricky. Luckily for you, we’ve consulted some professional farmers from farm estate planning and they’re helping you to choose the perfect watermelon without actually cutting it.
1. Look for the yellow field spot
That yellow spot is actually the place where the watermelon rested on the ground. Ripe watermelons have yellowish spots, not white.
2. Size
Don’t go for the largest, a medium one will do just fine. Small or large, the watermelon should feel heavy for its size.
3. Look for webbing
Webbings are brown spots and the more the watermelon has, the sweeter it tastes.
4. Boy and girl watermelons
Farmers can distinguish watermelons by gender. Boys are bigger and have a watery taste while girls have rounded shape and sweet taste.
5. The tail
Dry tails means the watermelon is ripe. Don’t buy watermelons with green tails, they’re picked too soon.
