Educating a girl is the most important investment of her family, community, and country. The young generation is the future of any country and for a country to be developed, this generation needs to be educated, be it a boy or a girl. But the most important thing is to educate a girl, which can bring a drastic change in society and hence the country.
On one hand, the field of education has advanced to a level where we are making use of artificial intelligence to learn nowadays, on the other hand, there are places in the world where basic education is also not being provided, especially to the female gender. If a girl is educated, she will marry later in her life and have healthier children, she will work and earn money hence contribute to society and the nation.
The main issues which prevent a girl from the right to education are either her gender, her residential area or the family’s economic condition. In many areas of the world, education is considered a luxury instead of a necessity. Let us understand how women education can make a different in the society and the nation.
Acts Towards Gender Equality:
Gender inequality is caused mainly due to the huge difference between the gender ratio of educated individuals. If more girls are educated, slowly this gap will be reduced, and the society will have a progressive approach towards women. Educated women understand their human rights and do not tolerate the injustice done by the society. An educated woman can empower other women by teaching them their rights hence the country can move further towards development.
Reduction of Poverty:
An educated girl can become an earning member in the family hence increasing the family income. This helps the economy to grow faster as households are lifted out of poverty.
Reduces Abuses Against Women:
An educated woman is aware of her rights and hence she will not tolerate any kind of physical or mental abuse. Education also teaches women against child marriage which reduces the risk of infection or death due to early childbirth or domestic violence. Statistics has revealed that an increase in women education has a direct impact in the reduction of sexual violence and trafficking of women.
Population Control:
An educated girl has the knowledge of family planning. This awareness will help in controlling the population of the country. She understands how a lesser number of children implies more resources can be provided to each individual child.
Improvement of Women’s Health:
An educated woman is aware of all types of fertility complications and infection due to unprotected intercourse. She has a better chance of protecting herself from all these by taking proper precautions, reducing the risk of health issues.
Brings Change in Society:
An educated woman makes sure her children are educated. An educated woman can also spread awareness amongst the other mothers to send their children to school. This increases the literacy rate of the country.
Going to a school is still a dream for many girls across the world. With the changing world, we need to understand what significance education has in the upliftment of an entire society and development of a nation. It is rightly said ‘If we educate a boy, we educate one person. If we educate a girl, we educate a family and an entire nation’.
